Spanish Cooking Night

Last night we got together with Stuart and Re, and also Trish and Mike. Each couple brought ingredients for several dishes, and this is the awesome menu we enjoyed.

As usual, we ate too much, but a good time was had by all.

Bermuda International Race Weekend

This weekend was the International Race Weekend in Bermuda. It is a special one this year, since 2009 marks Bermuda's 400 year anniversary!

Our friend David Kendall flew down to run as well. The weekend had several races - Mile, 10k, Half-Marathon, and Marathon. We both ran in the Half.

I pleasantly surprised myself with a much-improved personal best time of 2:14:36 - almost 16 minutes faster than my last half-marathon time!! Official results.

As always, Brian was incredibly supportive, and was out there to take pictures and cheer us on!

That was the beginning. Now coming into the finish...

After we recovered a bit, we got together with friends at the Swizzle for some post-race celebration! Everone was glad to catch up with David again.

Out of XL

Well, October 31st will be my last day at XL Capital in Bermuda. So, I'll be keeping my ear to the ground listening for new job opportunities.

We will start by limiting the scope of the search to Bermuda, but should that not pan out, a move to Europe may be in the offing.

The Wettest Place on Earth!

Wow! Take a look at these rainfall numbers!

This is from the following article on BBC News: link. It reports that
On 16 June, 1995, it rained a record-breaking 1,563mm (61.53ins) over a 24 hour period.
Now that's some 'tank' rain!

Bermuda Day Half-Marathon Complete!

As you can imagine, I'm very pleased that I successfully completed my first half-marathon. I laid down a first-time time of 2:28. The last 2 miles were a real struggle though.

Here is a picture from Trish from about half way.

This one is from Brian about 85% of the way there.

And coming in to the finish!
